Does anyone know how to relieve the pain of the TMJ (jaw disorder)?
Does anyone know how to relieve TMJ pain (disorder jaw)? I am 17 years old and I've had about a year or more now. My dentist just take ibuprofen, but I do not really want to take the medication every day. It hurts like months at a time, then stops for a couple of weeks ago, but lately I've had really bad. Its one of the worst pain you know.
You may have to do with an oral surgeon or a dentist who specializes in TMJ. I wear a bite splint at night to help with mine. The first time I had done, I had to wear all the time for several months, then my doctor reduced only at night. You can buy something at walmart or your local drug store that resembles a mouthpiece, but I would recommend (if you have insurance …) going to an oral surgeon and having one that fits your mouth perfectly. I was helped a lot!
