Do you experience persistent headaches and long duration of tension or migraine headaches, then you could have a condition known as TMJ. TMJ syndrome is a condition that occurs when the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) which connects the upper and lower jaw is not correct or stressed. This interference in the structure of the teeth causes the muscles to the joint position of your sockets and the forces of the upper and lower teeth to fit together, causing pain. Other common causes of TMJ include rheumatoid arthritis, airway obstruction, injuries, including whiplash and dislocation or displacement of the disc that is located between the socket and jaw.

TMJ is a fairly new area of Neuromuscular Dentistry which focuses on the nerves, muscles and correct the jaw position to help raise the inconvenience. Although TMJ is a common disorder that many people not know they have this condition and endure the pain. There are a number of common symptoms experienced suffers from the ATM, some symptoms include headaches or migraine, clicking in the jaw, limited jaw movement, grinding or clenching, ear pain or congestion. Fortunately, with current developments in Neuromuscular Dentistry, a number of treatments for headaches caused by TMJ syndrome that eliminates the symptoms permanently.

Treatments for TMD vary from simple interventions such as application of hot and cold compresses on the affected area, trigger point therapy, modification of diet, posture correction and relaxation of the temporomandibular joints. The more complex treatments, like physical therapy and use of ATM machines or surgery can be used. After careful evaluation of the condition of the patient situation, an appropriate treatment plan will be developed for the relief of symptoms. To remove the tension headaches or migraines server most unbearable pain caused by TMJ, then it's worth talking to your dentist about a treatment plan for you.
