tmj exercise
Can anyone help? I have TMJ and wonder if anyone could tell me more about how to deal with it!?

I have a protective of the mouth and does not seem to help. My doctor prescribed me some anti-inflammatory tablets help some, but not quitting! I wondered what sort of things I can do to improve my life. Any exercises or any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

When I had problems with TMJ syndrome I got a mouthguard and anti-inflammatories to try to help control pain. Some that I know by this that it was bad sometimes surgery is needed. I do not know any kind of exercises to help the MTA, but if your doctor says you may be able to apply heat to the area to see if it is of some help. Also, tell your doctor has problems with not receiving relief from the mouth guard. It is possible that an adjustment has to be done.

Headaches and TMJ syndrome may go together if you have chronic recurring headaches. While wildly over diagnosed in 1970, recently techniques latest image, such as MRI, have allowed for a better look at this facial joint that causes so much pain.

TMJ Syndrome temporomandibular joint, as the disorder commonly called well known today in terms of how they caused it. While many patients have bruxism or grinding of teeth at night, others may have had trauma, osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. Many times the cause is unknown. For those of you with the migraine, the constant tightening the jaw causes muscle spasms in the temples. This leads to a migraine.

Symptoms of TMJ can be any or all of the following: pain or tenderness in the jaw and / or around the ears, difficulty chewing, a sound when you open the jaw, causing spasms jaw to "lock" when opening or closing, uncomfortable or uneven bite, and finally, headache!

ATM Testing

Diagnosis ATM is a good history of how sleep, grinding habits during the day and general tension. An examination of the mandible should include palpation joint, both inside and outside the mouth. Pictures of the jaw may be necessary to know how much joint damage. X-rays, CT of the jaw, or even an MRI would help the doctor.
Once diagnosed should be referred to a dentist who specializes in syndrome ATM.

TMJ Treatment

The treatment of TMJ may greatly reduce headaches. But like anything else, a multi-factorial to the problem produced the best results for you. These are the most common treatments for TMJ victims who also have migraine.

Overuse of the jaw muscles. This is mostly a lifestyle change. You must be willing to recognize when you grind your teeth during the day and learn to relax the mandible. Also, try not to eat foods that are difficult to chew until it heals a little more.

Appliances. Depending on your situation particular, the dentist can make a bite plate or splint to help align the teeth at night. A night guard appliance could also be used to help to prevent grinding.

Drugs. Several medications can relieve pain and reduce headaches. A short course of steroids reduces inflammation, or if the condition is not serious anti-inflammatory could be used. Spasms of the jaw muscles could contribute to the problem, and the ideal medication for this is Elavil.

Dental repairs. Your dentist may recommend dental work that does not make much sense to you at first. However, correcting bite repairing teeth and filing the edges of the tooth that are not properly fulfilling all serve to decrease the ATM.

Surgery. This is a final option and is reserved for cases where the above options have failed. In this case, the joint is so damaged that the joint reconstruction or replacement may be recommended. And again .. headache and TMJ may be reduced!

If in doubt, ask your dentist to begin and ask about ATM testing. Discuss this with your specialist headache too, as they are very familiar with the disease. If you do not see a headache specialist, his primary care physician should be able to help.

tmj fatigue
what is better to smoke marijuana or take Vicadin chronic pain ….. Im a veteran of the Gulf War withperipheal neuro-pathy

side effects of Vicadin is more dangerous than smoking weed.My nuerological problems left me in constant pain where I can make use of the brush. Ive fybro dx with myalgia, chronic fatigue, guillianne sweeps, bells palsy, post traumatic stress disorder, ATM, athritis rhumatoid is i go on & on ….. if u ask me not to use something natural ID produse something chemically as hydrocodone or morphine … Let me live and die in peace ….

Pot has its medical uses, I smoke weed, but who uses it more to help me sleep better, to stimulate appetite and in severe chronic pain, just do not get hungry. It also works well for muscle spasms and nausea. In terms of pain, I know of that works great for him, other than as a muscle relaxant or minor pain. Volume methadone to treat pain, Vicodin mixed in the days when I have persistent pain. I would think that with Rhumatoid arthritis, you have to take something to control inflammation. You do not say whether it does or not. The Fibromyagia can respond to Valerian. This will also help with pain. You can buy in the vitamin aisle. Chronic fatigue is a symptom of Fibromyagia, if you can get a better quality of sleep, you may find its easy to fatigue. Valerian helps you achieve that dream. Good luck, hope to get to feel better.

Should I get braces to help my TMJ?

I am 28 years old and have had TMJ problems for about five years. They also suffer of fibromyalgia. My TMJ has improved, but still have problems. My dentist has agreed to let me pay particular only 300 down and 150.00 per month until you have paid close of 3800.00. My husband is not crazy about the idea. Then there is the pain associated with braces to consider. Not to mention the money.

No. often Braces cause the ATM in a small percentage of patients. Why would it want to risk trying to get rid of it with braces. The odds of success are agaist. With TMD (TMJ), unless the condition agrevate slower you go. Treating symptoms is the usual route for attention.
